Merry Joseph Blondel was a successful decorative painter in the first half of the nineteenth century. He received many commissions from the State, including for ceilings at the Musée du Louvre, the Palais de la Bourse, and the Château de Fontainebleau.
Merry-Joseph Blondel (Paris, 25 de julho de 1781 - Paris, 12 de junho de 1853) foi um pintor neoclássico da França. Iniciou nas artes trabalhando para a manufatura de porcelanas Dihl et Guerhard , e mais tarde estudou pintura com Jean-Baptiste Regnault .
Merry-Joseph Blondel was a French history painter of the Neoclassical school. He was a winner of the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1803. After the salon of 1824, he was bestowed with the rank of Knight in the order of the Legion d'Honneur by Charles X of France and offered a professorship at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts: a position in which he remained until his death in 1853.
