Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford and Essex, successor of Geoffrey de Mandeville, was presented in the reign of Edward I for withdrawing his suit from the borough.

  2. Hace 3 días · In 1539, following judicial arbitration, the manor was settled on Dorothy for life with remainder to Edward Seymour, earl of Hertford, later duke of Somerset (d. 1552). After the duke's execution and attainder the manor passed to his son Edward, created earl of Hertford in 1559.
