Hace 4 días · In 1539, following judicial arbitration, the manor was settled on Dorothy for life with remainder to Edward Seymour, earl of Hertford, later duke of Somerset (d. 1552). (fn. 31) After the duke's execution and attainder the manor passed to his son Edward, created earl of Hertford in 1559.
Hace 3 días · Sir Edward Seymour, the sixth baronet, grandson of the last-mentioned Sir Edward, upon the death of Algernon, Duke of Somerset, in 1750, succeeded to the titles of Baron Seymour and Duke of Somerset, and was grandfather of the present Duke (fn. n1) who occasionally resides at Berry Pomeroy.

Edward held West Bower from 1536 until his attainder and death in 1552, when the manor was forfeit to the Crown.
