Hace 3 días · On August 19, 1862, Minnesota Governor Alexander Ramsey asked his long-time friend and political rival, former Governor Henry Hastings Sibley, to lead an expedition up the Minnesota River for the relief of Fort Ridgely, and gave him an officer's commission as Colonel of Volunteers.

Hace 5 días · In about 1220 the patronage of Wistow was in the possession of William Hastings, probably the grandfather of the Henry Hastings who was lord of the manor in 1235-6. From him it descended to the earls of Pembroke who retained the advowson in their own hands in spite of the fact that they had subinfeudated the manor.

Shortly before his death in 1697, Henry Hastings sold the Humberstone manors to Thomas Sutton, a Londoner who was connected with an old Humberstone family, the Bales, which had formerly held land there.
