Hace 5 días · In 1402, the suspicious death of Robert III's elder son, David, Duke of Rothesay, possibly orchestrated by the Duke of Albany, left Robert III fearful for the safety of his younger son, James. In 1406, Robert III sent James to France for safety, but he was captured by the English en route and spent the next 18 years as a prisoner held for ransom.
