Perhaps the most famous resident of Warwick Castle was Richard Neville, the 16th Earl of Warwick, who earned the moniker "The Kingmaker" for his pivotal role in the Wars of the Roses. Initially allied with the Yorkist faction, Neville helped his cousin Edward IV ascend to the throne in 1461.
