Hace 3 días · The status of the chapter was enhanced as a result of the dissolution of Coventry priory, despite Bishop Lee's protest that Coventry was his 'principal see and head church'. An Act of 1541 recognized Lichfield as 'the full, sole, and entire see and chapter' of the diocese.

Essex died in 1601 before the lease could be made, but his son, also Robert (d. 1646), became lessee in 1604.
