Hace 2 días · Elizabeth's grant was made at the request of Robert Devereux, earl of Essex, as part of an arrangement whereby the corporation was to grant Essex a lease of the manor for life. Essex died in 1601 before the lease could be made, but his son, also Robert (d. 1646), became lessee in 1604.

Reform rendered the Anson property in Lichfield useless for electoral purposes, and the earl of Lichfield started selling off his burgages in 1882.
