In 1827, when the Archdiocese of Freiburg was founded, Freiburg became the seat of a Catholic archbishop. The Martinstor, one of the former city gates in Freiburg. The Celts had different settlements in the Taunus mountains north of Frankfurt, the biggest one the Heidetrank Oppidum.
