And now, multiple outlets are reporting that Stephen F. Austin will announce this coming week it will leave the WAC to return to the Southland in time for the 2024 football season.

The football team will leave the United Athletic Conference to rejoin the Southland with the SLC expected to play a 7-game conference schedule in 2024.

Austin will be leaving the United Athletic Conference and rejoining the Southland Conference effective this summer. SFA was a member of the Southland Conference from 1987 all the way until 2020.
