Hace 2 días · The estate was bought from Charlesworth's executors in 1915 by Alfred Douglas-Hamilton, duke of Hamilton and Brandon (d. 1940), whose wife Nina (d. 1951) in 1939 established an animal sanctuary there. After 1951 the estate belonged to the Animal Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society.
