Hace 6 días · Edgar Wind was the University of Oxford’s first Professor of the History of Art. In 1954, he was invited to give the Chichele Lectures at All Souls College, where he delivered four lectures on Art and Scholarship under Julius II. The following year, Wind became Professor of the History of Art, based at Trinity College.

Hace 3 días · Thomas Chichele was buried at Higham Ferrers, co. Northants, in 1400; and the Chichele rents with which he apparently endowed the fraternity were with other properties subject to a yearly payment to All Souls' College towards an obit for Sir Robert Chichele.

The Library, 1623–5, is of architectural interest for the premeditated use of revived Gothic forms in the reign of James I.

After a year at All Souls, he went on a Grand Tour of South Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand with Ludovic Heathcoat-Amory. In 1905, he returned to England for two years of study at All Souls. He visited Canada in 1907.
