Hace 3 días · After the dissolution of the order in 1540 the manor was granted as 'Sadlescombe and Blakefeld', in fee to Sir Anthony Browne, the owner of Poynings (q.v.). In his family the manor continued to descend. His son Anthony Browne, 1st Viscount Montagu, died holding it of the king in chief in 1592.
