The riel (/ r i ˈ ɛ l /; Khmer: រៀល, romanized: riĕl; sign: ៛; code: KHR) is the currency of Cambodia. There have been two distinct riel, the first issued between 1953 and May 1975. Between 1975 and 1980, the country had no monetary system.
El riel (en camboyano: "brillante") es la unidad monetaria de Camboya. El código ISO 4217 es KHR y se acostumbra a abreviar con un símbolo especial: ៛, o bien CR. Tradicionalmente se ha dividido en 10 kak o 100 sen (សេន), aunque a causa del poco valor de la moneda hace tiempo que la fracción ya no circula.

At its inception, the bank emitted the national riel currency with a gold standard of a weight of 25.3905 milligrams of fine gold secured by the assets in gold and foreign currencies by the National Bank of Cambodia itself.
