Corday claimed to have intelligence on Girondins in Caen and was admitted to his quarters, where Marat was taking a medicinal bath. There Corday drew a knife from beneath her clothes and stabbed him through the heart.

Hace 4 días · On July 13, 1793, the Girondin sympathizer Charlotte Corday murdered Marat as he lay in his bath. Such an act of callous violence seemed to many people far worse than the kinds of the rioting and reprisals that the Montagnards had urged, and Girondin support plummeted.
