Hace 2 días · After some consultation, at which the bishop assisted, three different institutions were suggested, which at length produced Christ's Hospital, for the education of youth; Bridewell, for the poor, and correcting the profligate; and this of St. Thomas, for the relief of the lame and sick.

Hace 2 días · At about this time a quit-rent of £1. 6s. 8d. was due from this property to Haliwell Priory and in 1539-40 and subsequently was received by the Crown from Richard Wilson. The rent was later paid by Christ's Hospital. Wilson probably lived in 15 c. 1522-4 and in 1544, when he was taxed as a resident of St. Pancras parish and Cordwainer ward.
