22 de may. de 2024 · The Duke of Albemarle was second son of Sir Thomas Monk : his elder brother having died without issue, he became the representative of this ancient family. The title became extinct in 1688, by the death of Christopher his son, the second duke.
Hace 2 días · On 6 January 1681, the first recorded boxing match took place in Britain when Christopher Monck, 2nd Duke of Albemarle (and later Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica), engineered a bout between his butler and his butcher with the latter winning the prize.
