  5. Hace 3 días · Charterhall began life as a First World War landing ground named Eccles Tofts for No 77 Squadron from at least the beginning of 1917 until 1919. The airfield is more famous however for its use during the Second World War, opening in the spring of 1942.

  6. Hace 3 días · On 1st January 1940 he was posted to the RAF College FTS Cranwell to complete his training. He went to No. 1 School of Army Co operation at Old Sarum on 2nd June 1940 but eight days later moved to 5 OTU Aston Down to convert to Hurricanes.
