Hace 2 días · The Beer Purity Law was first enacted in 1516 in the city of Ingolstadt, Bavaria, by Duke Wilhelm IV and his brother Duke Ludwig X. The law was initially created to ensure the quality of beer being produced and to protect consumers from potentially harmful ingredients. Over time, the law was adopted by other regions in Germany and became a standard practice in the brewing industry.

The festival concluded five days later with a horse race held in an open area that came to be called Theresienwiese (“Therese’s green”).
