Hace 1 día · The Stanley family became earls of Derby from 1485. They seldom visited the Isle of Man, and ruled it through governors sent from England. In 1541, Edward Stanley, 3rd earl of Derby, was declared to be 'Metropolitan and Chiefe of [the] holy Church'.
