Hace 3 días · John Campbell White was born in 1843, the son of a lawyer and owner of the Shawfield Chemical Works in Rutherglan who had purchased the Overtoun Estate in Dumbarton in 1859 and erected Overtoun House three years later. On the death of his father, White succeeded to the ownership of the Estate. He was raised to the peerage in 1893.
