Hace 3 días · From a letter of Horace Walpole's in 1746 it appears that the Duke of Newcastle was living here, but we find in 1748 that the Earl of Orford is still rated for the house, from which we gather that he had not yet parted with the property, although he had just acquired his celebrated residence at Strawberry Hill.
