His only son Edward died without issue in 1499, and after a long dispute his property passed to the heirs of his maternal grandfather Henry Greene, who were the descendants of Greene's sisters Isabel and Margaret.

24 de may. de 2024 · It was thus reunited with the manor of Chipping Ongar (q.v.) and had the same descent until the death in 1460 of Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham, when by virtue of a previous settlement Stanford Rivers passed to John Stafford, 3rd son of the duke, who was created Earl of Wiltshire in 1470 and died in 1473.

Hace 3 días · William Scrope, 1st Earl of Wilstshire and heir to the estates of his father, Richard 1st Baron Scrope of Bolton, was seized by Henry Bolingbroke’s men at Bristol Castle and executed there without trial on 29 July 1399. The Scrope’s of Bolton 1403-1459. Richard 1st Baron Scrope of Bolton died on 30 May 1403.
