Hace 2 días · Edward was buried in the Henry VII Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey on 8 August 1553, with reformed rites performed by Thomas Cranmer. The procession was led by "a grett company of chylderyn in ther surples" and watched by Londoners "wepyng and lamenting"; the funeral chariot, draped in cloth of gold, was topped by an effigy of Edward, with crown, sceptre, and garter. Hace 5 días · The principal monument in the north aisle of Henry VII.'s Chapel is that of Queen Elizabeth. This is a sumptuous and lofty pile, of the Corinthian order, though of far less grandeur than that of her rival and victim, Mary Queen of Scots, in the south aisle.
Henry VII Chapel Design Visited Westminster Abbey again, always taking my time to visit each part. In particular I look at the designs of the various parts of the Abbey, from the Shrine of Edward the Confessor and the Plantaganet Kings that surround it to the Lady Chapel and awe of it.
