Asimov didn't put a lot of hidden meanings into his writing. If he wanted us to know something about his characters or his plots or his societies, he usually told us, rather than just hinted at it. On this note, there's an anecdote he told in one of his autobiographies about the time he sat in on a lecture about his own literary work.
