His probate in Liverpool 1907 gives us a birthdate of 1851 but he seems to have dodged census records, perhaps hidden in Scotland People.
Hace 3 días · James Hamilton. He was admitted to the US Military Academy at West Point, NY in 1858, and attended, but did not graduate. He was commissioned Lieutenant of Infantry, CSA on 16 March 1861, and was on recruiting duty. He resigned that commission on 24 June 1861, and was Lieutenant and aide-de-camp (ADC) to General Richard Taylor by May 1862.
