Hace 2 días · In 1720 Sir Edward Hales sold the estate to John Montagu, Duke of Montagu, and Montagu sold it in 1722 to the statesman and diplomat, Richard Hill of Hawkstone (Salop). After Hill's death in 1727 the estate came by a settlement to his nephew, Rowland Hill (created a baronet in the same year), and was held by the Hill family until the 19th century.
