Hace 4 días · John Tyler was born in 1790 to a slave holding family, he served as governor, senator, US representative, Vice president and finally as president. He took office in 1841, after the death of William Henry Harrison. He served one term and retired in Virginia. He was later elected to the Confederate House of Representatives when US Civil War broke out in 1861. He died of a stroke in 1862, at age 71.
