The targets of the purge included not only SA leaders but also other political opponents, such as former Chancellor Kurt von Schleicher and Gustav Strasser, a dissident Nazi who had fallen out with Hitler.

Hace 2 días · Kurt von Schleicher forced Franz von Papen to resign and himself succeeded Papen as chancellor on 3 December. Schleicher, a retired army officer, had developed in an atmosphere of semi-obscurity and intrigue that encompassed the Republican military policy. He had for years been in the camp of those supporting the Conservative counter-revolution.
