  2. Hace 4 días · Didderston was granted in 1544 to Matthew Earl of Lennox and Margaret his wife and their heirs, and so returned to the Crown on the accession of James I. Jervaulx Abbey and its late possessions were then granted to Edward Lord Kinloss and Bruce of Kinloss, whose descendants were still enfeoffed of Didderston Grange in 1699.

  3. Hace 5 días · Tunstall Grange, which had been the property of Jervaulx Abbey, was granted in 1545 to Matthew Earl of Lennox and his issue, it being afterwards granted to them in fee. The earl sold it in 1568 to Christina Mather. In 1569 it was in the hands of Thomas Sandes.

Hace 1 día · Under the influence of William Maitland of Lethington, Mary's secretary, Grange changed sides, occupying the town and castle of Edinburgh for Queen Mary, and against the new regent, the Earl of Lennox. The stand-off which followed was not resolved until two years later, and became known as the "Lang Siege", from the Scots word for "long".
