Hace 4 días · Although they did not own the hundred, the Newports' legitimate heirs, the Bridgemans, were later created Baron (1794), and earl of (1815), Bradford. (fn. 96) In 1805 the hundred belonged to the earl of Darlington, (fn. 97) cr. marquess (1827) and duke (1833) of Cleveland.
Hace 4 días · Bowood House was built by Sir Orlando Bridgeman probably c. 1727, the year in which he bought the inheritance in fee of the park. It was probably built on or near the site of, and presumably replaced, Lower Lodge, a house which in 1650 stood in the park and was described as old.

Hace 4 días · Thomas Randolph second earl of Moray (d. 1332), was killed at Dupplin Moor, and was succeeded by his brother, John Randolph, who was killed at Neville’s Cross. The brothers were childless, and Moray passed to the earl of Dunbar, husband of their sister Agnes Dunbar.
