In 1618, William Cavendish was created Earl of Devonshire, and the title has continued ever since in this noble family, who in 1694 were elevated to the dukedom. n7.

Hace 5 días · In the parish church are the monuments of Henry Cavendish, Esq. , of Chatsworth, who died in 1616; his younger brother William, the first Earl of Devonshire, who died in 1625; and John Beton, an attendant on Mary Queen of Scots, who was employed by the Royal captive in various negotiations: he died at Chatsworth in 1570.
