Jahrhundert gefürstete Familienzweig entfernte sich kaum vom schwäbischen Ursprungsgebiet. Burg Hohenzollern, auf dem gleichnamigen Berg in Bisingen im Zollernalbkreis gelegen, befindet sich im Eigentum beider Familien.
