Hace 4 días · Il 5 ottobre 1847 Lucca fu ceduta alla Toscana. Viareggio, nella nuova realtà, si sviluppò come centro balneare, non più limitato alla sola Lucca ma esteso a tutta la Toscana. Nel 1848 Viareggio scelse il proprio stemma, che è rimasto immutato, in cui sono presenti: un'ancora con tanto di gomena e uno scudo bianco, rosso e verde.
