Hace 3 días · ELVINGTON manor descended in the Morers family until 1394, when William Morers granted it to three men, apparently trustees of Ralph, Lord Neville, created earl of Westmorland in 1397. The manor, still comprising 6 carucates, was held by Ralph's widow Joan in 1428.

(fn. 39) On 12 January 1440–1, after the death of Joan Countess of Westmorland, widow, it was found that the late earl had demised Dalton next Elwick and other manors for the term of his life to William Tunstall and others.

Their marriage was arranged by Richard's father, Richard of Conisburgh, and took place in 1437. Cecily was the daughter of Ralph Neville, Earl of Westmorland, and Joan Beaufort, Countess of Westmorland.
