Hace 5 días · From 1540 the manor descended with Barnwell St. Andrew (q.v.), but the Duke of Buccleuch did not sell it with that manor in 1913, and is still owner. Another fee in Hemington, also 2½ hides, the soke of which lay in Oundle, was held of the abbot of Peterborough by three knights in the 11th and 12th centuries.
Hace 3 días · As James Corrall Roberts was vicar from 1819 to 1871 no presentation was made between those years, but the patron was said to be 'Lady Scott' in 1831 (Lewis, Topog. Dict.), 1837 (Clerical Guide), and 1850 (White, Directory of Warws.). If this is not an error, the reference is probably to a daughter of the 4th Duke of Buccleuch (see above, n. 68).
Hace 5 días · In 1704 it was owned with other Combe fee-farm rents by Sir Robert Dashwood, who sold them in 1721 to John Campbell, duke of Argyll. They later passed to Henry Scott, duke of Buccleuch, from whom they were bought in 1778 by the duke of Marlborough.
