El día 26 de mayo de 1979 se produjo el atentado de los GRAPO (Grupos de Resistencia Antifascista Primero de Octubre) en la cafetería California 47, situada en la madrileña calle de Goya. El número de fallecidos fue de 9 personas y hubo 60 heridos, 22 de ellos de gravedad.
