Hace 4 días · Susanna's share of the manor passed on her death in 1758 to her only daughter Elizabeth, wife of Stephen Fox Strangways (cr. earl of Ilchester 1756, d. 1776) and thereafter to successive earls of Ilchester. Giles Stephen Holland Fox-Strangways, earl of Ilchester, was one of two joint lords of the manor in 1939. (fn. 68)
Hace 5 días · In November 1730 Hervey assigned his lease to his great friend Stephen Fox, later first Earl of Ilchester, (fn. 79) who in 1732 bought the freehold from the Pollen family (fn. 80) and lived here until his death in 1776. The Fox-Strangways family still owns the freehold.

His brother, the celebrated Charles James Fox, the "man of the people," is not much associated with Holland House, except as a name.
