Hace 6 días · It passed with the earldom of Hertford and later with the dukedom of Somerset to John Seymour, duke of Somerset, and at his death in 1675 it was inherited by his sister Elizabeth (d. 1697), wife of Thomas Bruce who succeeded to the earldom of Ailesbury in 1685.
Hace 2 días · In 1746 he had been created Lord Bruce of Tottenham, with special remainder to his nephew Thomas Bruce Brudenell, who accordingly succeeded him, taking the name of Bruce, and was created Earl of Ailesbury in 1746. He died in 1814, and was succeeded by his son, created Marquess of Ailesbury in 1821.

He was born 29 May, 1931, the third son of Air Chief Marshal Sir Douglas Claude Strathern Evill, GBE, KCB, DSC, AFC, RAF (1892-1971), and his wife the former Henrietta Hortense Kleinwort (1893-1980), second daughter of Sir Alexander Drake Kleinwort, 1st Baronet (1858-1935).
