Hace 4 días · The number of houses grew from 812 in 1861 to 2,233 in 1871, 8,162 in 1891, and 20,128 in 1905. (fn. 15) The earliest development, at Kilburn, Willesden Green, Brondesbury, and Stonebridge Park, was for upper-class housing for merchants and professional men working in the City.
Hace 2 días · Under an Act of 1874 (fn. 38) Willesden became an urban sanitary district, divided into four wards and governed by a local board of 15 members. South Kilburn had six members, North Kilburn, East Willesden and West Willesden three each.

In 1902 McVitie & Price opened a biscuit factory in Waxlow Road, Harlesden, and by 1919 was the largest employer in Willesden, with 1,150 workers.
