Directors cutt is better. Lots of stuff in the theoretical cutt just didn't need to be there. For example, the scene with the spheres. In the theoretical cutt a hand appears on one Wich makes no sense in the story, but it is removed in directors. I also heard that the Directors cutt had more information on the philosophy of time travel.

Richard Kelly creates a mix between a unique take on the Coming of Age genre, Horror , and Time Travel ), and succeeds in merging these genres into a brilliant film that is simultaneously foreboding, funny, and meaningful.
