The military soon took over and massively redeveloped the site, adding many more hangars and associated facilities, to create what by 1917 became known as Shotwick.

Hace 5 días · Since 1951, Valley has been one of the RAF’s principal flying training centres. No 202 Advanced Flying School re-formed on 1 April 1951 with the role of training fast jet pilots on de Havilland Vampire and Gloster Meteor aircraft.

He went to England in June 1939 and joined the RAF in August on a short service commission. He did his elementary flying training at 19 E&RFTS Gatwick and then moved on to 3 FTS South Cerney.

On 5th September he was posted to 8 FTS Montrose and on completion of his training joined 111 Squadron at Northolt on 24th April 1937. In early 1940 Dutton was still serving with 111.
