The marriage was opposed by Victoria, who feared for her granddaughter‘s well-being in Russia, but she ultimately relented in the face of family pressure.

The film is a rather beautiful fantasy about how Anastasia could have survived the events of the Revolution and lived through the 1920s in communist Russia.
