Das einst auf der Berliner Spreeinsel gelegene Residenzschloss war seit 1443 Wohn- und Arbeitsort der Kurfürsten von Brandenburg und späteren Könige von Preußen und Deutschen Kaiser. Es diente auch als Sitz von Behörden und Gerichten.
