However, there is no knowledge of that phrase in any of the history of cockney slang, so that story is contested. In other interviews, he pointed out that the Malay word for man is “orang”, meaning the title would be “A Clockwork Man”.

I’m watching Malcolm McDowell in a 2006 Episode of Law and Order CI and I’m wondering why “A Clockwork Orange” was not recognized at the Oscars? Kubrick had received a few others. I was 14 when I saw it in theatre and it still resonates with me today at age 66.
