Stanley William Turrentine (April 5, 1934 – September 12, 2000) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer. He began his career playing R&B for Earl Bostic and later soul jazz recording for the Blue Note label from 1960, touching on jazz fusion during a stint on CTI in the 1970s.

Tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine spent most of his career mixing jazz with RnB on records that ranged from highly regarded soul jazz to outright pop and disco fluff. His 1971 release, “Sugar”, fortunately falls more in the former style than the latter and features some nice grooves for fans of the classic soul jazz sound.
