Hace 5 días · He died at 2 a.m. on the morning of 17 October 1849 after having been unconscious for 24 hours. On the same day, Jean Baptiste Auguste Clésinger (1814 – 83) made a death mask (fig. 3) and a plaster cast of his hands (3, 6). The diagnosis written in the death certificate is tuberculosis in the lungs and larynx (6).

Very few people were present at the time of his death, but they included former pupil Adolf Gutmann, Thomas Albrecht, and Chopin's sister Ludwika.
