Hace 3 días · George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, the well-known favourite of James I and Charles I, was born in 1592. He was introduced to the King in 1614. His rise was rapid; he had attained the rank of marquess by 1619, and in the same year was made lord high admiral, a position for which he was singularly ill-fitted.
