Hace 4 días · Description. Following a visit to Egypt in 1826, Duke Algernon Percy was alike many of his counterparts in the mid-nineteenth century and developed a taste for collecting Egyptian antiquities. He proudly displayed these - and British objects - at the family seat of Alnwick Castle.

He worked in the Arundel Castle estate office for seven years, before moving back to Northumberland to manage the Alnwick estate for his elder brother Henry, 11th Duke .

(fn. 60) Thenceforth it was usually referred to as Northumberland House.

Hace 5 días · Henry Percy (d. 1489), earl of Northumberland, regained his father's earldom in 1470. (fn. 58) He appears to have vindicated his title to Dagenhams and Cockerels in 1474 by a collusive lawsuit against his father's trustees, (fn. 59) and in 1482 he sold the manor to Avery Cornburgh.
