His son Henry, the first Lord Sidmouth and Prime Minister in 1801–4, kept up his family's long connexion with the village. Their descendant the 6th Lord Sidmouth still owned Hall farm in 1955.

They had a son Robert, who was a devoted Royalist in the civil wars of the reign of Henry III. In 1248 he obtained a grant of free warren in his demesne lands of Addington and in 1270 licence to embattle his house there.

The manor of Great Addington passed with the barony of Mordaunt and earldom of Peterborough until 1814, when the last Earl of Peterborough died without issue.
